Hello!

Welcome to my website! I'm Kathryn and I blog about  fusing Vintage and modern Fashion together to create a unique style. I am also passionate about slowing down the fast fashion industry  and hope to encourage others to do likewise through my posts showcasing  my personal style through the vintage and upcycled items that I have sourced.  I have now added a SHOP section to my website where you can purchase lots of sustainable goodies from clothing to china and everything in between! Through my upcycling  posts and crafted items I hope to encourage all of you to be mindful about what you throw away and to see that almost everything can be reused and made fresh and unique again through a little imagination.   I also blog about maintaining a healthy mental attitude through positivity and being mindful of how unique we are as individuals.

A pink garden wall location . This is a very striking combo as the pink and 60s green psychedelic print of the skirt are broken up by the black colour block crew neck balancing out the shot.

Location location location....................... where have we heard that before? Yes I know, a very obvious one but not always the easiest to get right when it comes to fitting your Instagram photos (especially fashion location shoots) with the right location for your shots.

The mood and style of your photo can be greatly effected by your choice of location. I'm begining to realise that the smartest choice of locations are the ones close by. A lot of the time we are shut eyed to the scenes and beauty on our own door step.

Whether yours  is urban or rural, windswept coastline or midland farmland there is beauty and inspiration in all of these locations.

I have been guilty of  feeling that "faraway hills are greener" so to speak when it came to choosing the best locations for my page. However, on closer inspection of my own little town I have found that there is a diverse and varied supply of different locations to be found here. I will be featuring these different locations on my Instagram page going forward in 2016. I am equally convinced that if you, my reader, have a closer look at your own town/village or countryside home  you will  find numerous interesting locations in which to take unique photos. Re - think your attitude to that urban graffiti wall, or that old fallen tree or ruined building these and similar ideas like them can make amazing locations to showcase your latest outfit.

My only rule going forward when taking my own fashion shots is that I will try to balance out the colour scheme in relation to the location. What I mean to say is , for example if I'm working with a grey concrete wall then I will make sure that the outfit I choose is a colourful one and this can work vice versa too. I have found a few wall murals in the town I live in recently, they are full of amazing colour so when I decide to do a photo shoot using them I will wear a more subdued colour-blocked ensemble so that each will compliment the other.

Hope my location article has been helpful today. Talk tomorrow.  XXX Violinkit
