Beanie Tweaking.......

Yes Valentines is near but its freezing outside....... I got to thinking over the weekend what would be the best "feel good" romantic inspired item of clothing to be wearing right now but that would still make you feel snug and warm........ 

THE BEANIE..............Wha.........You may very well ask..............

Not any old beanie however but a style that is a retro hint of a romantic era of bygone days....... The beanie style I'm referring to is a style embellished with brooches, netting, flowers, buttons etc to give it that nostalgic feel........

There is also the vintage style Beanie turban which was a hat worn in the 1930's and consisted of a piece of material wrapped around the head and twisted and knotted in front.  Classic Movie Icons like Gloria Swanson and Marlene Dietrich worn this style with aplomb....https://youtu.be/TMUJpec6Bdc

Another Turban style Beanie this time embellished with an elaborate Brooch

These are not the easiest to find however  on a recent trip home I found a style in the Savida section of Dunnes Stores in Ireland that was very much to my liking. This style was embellished with netting that comes down over the forehead and partially hides the eyes in a mysterious romantic way.........Perfect for Valentines!

This beanie is available in black and a vintage dusty pink shade and has black netting over the front section of both colours. I also have a similiar style in cream.

You can tweak and add to any old beanie in your wardrobe for a similiar look or use a flower accessory or glitzy brooch to add some Valentine glamour. The possibilities are endless and these beanies look great with a dressed up romantic Valentines look especially dresses.

This look not for the faint hearted as I used a massive flower Brooch to embellish this beanie for a vintage shoot I did in 2016. However it does prove how a plain old beanie can be totally transformed into something quite different.

Ok Folks , get out your beanies this Valentines day if the weather is freezing as it is here in Ireland . Add that little bit of something special to give it a twist for the day that's in it. That little diamante brooch will set the romantic tone for the day.........
