To Hat or Hat not.......
So hopefully I'm slowly luring the non-hat wearing amongst you around to my way of thinking...................Ha ha!
Continuing with the history bit, during the first half of the 19th century the Bonnet dominated womens hat fashions. These hats were enormous and were extravagantly embellished. Sometimes tastelessly so!!!
By the mid 1920's hair styles began to change, which subsequently altered the way in which hat styles were worn. Hair was being worn shorter in a Bob style which was a short style cut at jaw length. This merited a whole new hat design and Hey Presto! the Cloche was born. One of my favourite hat styles of all time , its design has a timeless modern beauty, even today. This style proved hugely popular and was worn close to the skull and hugged the head in a most flattering and simple way and was further complimented by a small brim.
What are your favourite hat styles? Do let me know. I'll continue out little TEA PARTY tomorrow. Ha ha! XXXX Violinkit In the meantime............
